WADE CHRISTIAN PETERSON, MA, LPC, NCC
I am the founder and owner of Intrinsic Counseling and Treatment Center. Many of the clients I work with have spent years surviving instead of truly living. They may feel emotionally exhausted, disconnected from themselves, stuck in unhealthy relationship patterns, constantly anxious, emotionally numb, or overwhelmed by intrusive thoughts and self-criticism. Some struggle with addiction, compulsive behaviors, anger, panic, or difficulty trusting others. Others carry the lasting effects of childhood trauma, emotionally neglectful environments, abusive relationships, or painful life experiences they have never fully processed.
I specialize in the treatment of complex trauma, PTSD, attachment wounds, and addiction, including process addictions such as pornography, gambling, emotional eating, and compulsive behaviors. I also work extensively with anxiety disorders, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, depression, mood disorders, and relational difficulties. Often, the symptoms people experience today are connected to survival strategies that once helped them cope but now leave them feeling stuck, disconnected, or emotionally overwhelmed.
My approach to therapy is genuine, direct, collaborative, and deeply rooted in understanding the impact of trauma on the nervous system, relationships, and sense of self. I am an EMDRIA Certified Therapist and integrate Attachment-Focused EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and trauma-informed cognitive behavioral approaches to help clients process painful experiences and reconnect with themselves in healthier ways.
I believe healing is not about “fixing” who you are. It is about understanding the story behind your pain with compassion instead of shame. Together, we work to identify patterns, build emotional awareness, strengthen boundaries, process unresolved trauma, and create a greater sense of safety, connection, and stability in your daily life.
I also recognize the importance of culture, family systems, and personal experiences in shaping how people view themselves and the world around them. My background includes working in residential treatment, outpatient care, and within the judicial system, giving me experience supporting clients from diverse backgrounds and complex life circumstances.
Therapy with me is not about judgment or pretending to have all the answers. It is about creating a space where you can feel genuinely seen, understood, and supported while doing meaningful work toward healing and growth. Whether this is your first experience with therapy or you have been in therapy before, you do not have to navigate it alone.
As a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), I have dedicated myself to pursue quality services within the counseling profession. Distinguishing from credentials that are required for practice, I have satisfied requirements including educational coursework from an accredited program, completion of continuing education requirements, and adherence to ethical standards.
I Have also been recognized as “Mom Approved” by DFW Child Magazine.
